NICCHECK NOW HAS A SMARTPHONE APP WHICH ENABLES CLOUD BASED NICOTINE MEASUREMENTS

NicCheck now has a mobile app which enables cloud-based nicotine monitoring for all tobacco users including for the first time JUUL® pod vaporizers and other E cigarettes also known as electronic nicotine delivery devices.

Many smokers are switching to vaping and knowing the amount of nicotine consumed before and after is helpful. Many e-cigarette consumers use vaping as a quitting attempt or substitute for quitting. The NicCheck Mobile App quantifies nicotine consumption from all sources of nicotine and tobacco including smokeless tobacco, heat not burn tobacco products and nicotine replacement products.
The Mobile App is the first smartphone technology which measures nicotine consumption from all sources and assists people in switching, cutting down or quitting nicotine consumption.

WHY MEASURE?
When you measure it you can control it. The mobile app enables both the tobacco consumer and health professional to monitor progress.  Counting cigarettes or pods is inadequate and inherently inaccurate.

NOTE; THIS APPLICATION HAS NOT BEEN CLEARED BY THE FDA.

NicCheck Being Used Again In The Quit To Win Challenge

The 2018 campaign is in its 19th year and the number of individuals registered for the 2018 Challenge was 14,155.  Since the year 2000, more than 436,000 individuals have registered for the Challenge.

There are still 18.4% of Quebecers who smoke which represents close to 1.3 million people*.  Of those smokers, 60% want to stop.  Our statistics show that 2 out of 3 smokers succeed the 6-week Challenge.

As they have done in past years, Capsana uses the NicCheck test to confirm our main Challenge winners.  We are very appreciative of the help and support you have provided once again for our 2018 campaign

Romanian Quit &Win 2010 Challenge Concludes Smoking Cessation Screening Using NicCheck I Test Strips

The Romanian Quit&Win 2010 Challenge, a yearly smoking cessation competition, has chosen NicCheck I once again to be the test they used to confirm smoking cessation.

Tuesday June 15, 2010 Mossman Associates, Inc., announced today that the Romanian Quit & Win 2010 Smoking Cessation Challenge, a yearly smoking cessation competition, has chosen NicCheck I once again to be the test they used to confirm smoking cessation among the potential contest winners.

Prof. Radu M. Negoescu, PhD, MPH, Head, Unit of Healthy Lifestyle Promotion of
The Institute of Public Health, has reported “Please accept our renewed thanks for giving us the possibility to validate Quit & Win 2010 Romania winners using NicCheck tests.
As usual, NicCheck did work well and helped a lot to distinguish among false and sincere competitors.

The campaign mobilized 245 participants competing for several 11 day sojourns in renown or just-opened Health (life style) Centers at Herghelia, county of Mures, and Podis, county of Bacau; such a sojourn is valued about $ 500. NicCheck testing has been applied to participants in drawing order after a successful telephonic interview of the witness and of the candidate. Testing was applied by qualified personnel from Public Health Authorities closest to candidate's residence.”

Donald Mossman, President of Mossman Associates is quoted as saying, "We are again pleased to be chosen to be involved with this important project. We have seen how our test can be used in the field, such as our involvement in the rural countryside of the Philippines, as well as by lab clinicians such as with the Canadian Quit and Win Challenge. Currently we are becoming more involved with doctors and how NicCheck can be used to better determine the amount of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) that is required for their patients. We feel strongly that the addition of NicCheck as a tool, for one’s smoking cessation efforts will improve results and help with kicking the habit ".

Detection of Nicotine and Its Metabolites in Urine

Official Publication Of The American Academy Of Health Behavior

Amruta R. Eswara, PhD
Saraswathy V. Nochur, PhD
Donald J. Mossman

ABSTRACT: A simple strip test has been developed for the detection of nicotine and its metabolites in urine. The NicCheck® I test yields a pink color on the test strip within 30 minutes, providing a semi-quantitative measure of tobacco consumption. When tested on urine from smokers and nonsmokers, the test was determined to have an overall sensitivity and specificity of 99% when compared to an EIA for cotinine determination. The test detects both nicotine and cotinine, as well as a number of other nicotine metabolites, thus providing a more complete indication of overall tobacco consumption. Based on its simplicity, accuracy, and ease of use, the test could conceivably have several applications.

Innovations for Poverty Action, Teams with The Green Bank of Caraga, Using NicCheckTM to Confirm Smoking Cessation

Milford, Massachusetts; 10/15/07 - Mossman Associates Inc. is pleased to announce that our NicCheckTM is being used by Innovations for Poverty Action and The Green Bank of Caraga within their CARES Campaign.
CARES, (Committed Action to Reduce and End Smoking), offered by The Green Bank of Caraga, aims at supporting smokers to quit smoking. Despite the widely known negative effects of smoking on health, smoking continues to be prevalent in many Filipino families in the absence of organized smoking cessation programs.
The CARES product allows smokers to commit to quitting within the next six months, and provides smokers with financial incentives to follow through on that commitment. Once a client opens a CARES savings account and commits to quit smoking in six months, the client will not have the access to the savings account unless he/she passes the nicotine test at the end of the six months period. The Green Bank provides deposit collection services on weekly basis, constantly reminding and encouraging the client to reduce smoking and eventually quit.
Ann Mayuga from the Innovations for Poverty Action is quoted as saying, “ Clients are encouraged to stop smoking within 6 months with the incentives provided by the CARES product. We use NicCheck to confirm that participants have truly quit smoking during this period. The NicCheck test is affordable and easy to use. We are able to reduce the hassle for the clients by having the CARES staff visit each client and conduct the test in the field.”
Donald Mossman, President of Mossman Associates Inc. notes, "We are proud to be able to contribute to a program designed to help those people trying to quit smoking. Our NicCheck product can effectively be used to monitor a person’s nicotine consumption as they reduce their dependence, as well as, to verify total cessation. The test is simple and as you can see because it is a rapid visual test it is conducive to being run in the field, lending itself to visiting nurses, spot checks and remote health stations”.

Dutch Cancer Society Using NicCheck to Confirm Smoking Cessation

Milford, Massachusetts; 6/8/05 - Mossman Associates Inc. is pleased to announce that their NicCheck is being used by The Dutch Cancer Society for their annual Quit and Win Campaign.

Quit &Win is a practical, cost-effective evidence-based smoking cessation method for population-wide public health use. The International Quit &Win Campaign, originally organized in the framework of the WHO/CINDI program, is now an international network supported by the WHO and organized by The National Public Health Institute, KTL, Helsinki Finland. Quit &Win has proven to have the capability to reach more smokers and at a lower cost than most smoking cessation interventions. It has also proven to be applicable to different cultures. The success of the Quit &Win campaigns are assessed by standardized evaluation procedures, and follow-up studies have shown that after one year, on an average 20 % of the participants have remained tobacco free.
This stop-smoking-contest is conducted worldwide every two years by The National Public Health Institute, KTL, Helsinki Finland, however in the Netherlands there will be a contest every year organized under the same rules and conditions as the parent contest and overseen by The Dutch Cancer Society.

Ingrid van den Berg from the Dutch Cancer Society is quoted as saying,
"The Dutch Cancer Society is annually organizing a Quit &Win campaign. In May 2005, 3.695 smokers quit smoking in the Netherlands. Participants could win €1.000, if they quit smoking for at least a month. In order to check if the potential winners truly quit smoking during this period, we used NicCheck to confirm if they indeed were smoke free after a month"

"We are proud to be able to contribute to a program designed to help those people trying to quit smoking, to ultimately succeed. Our NicCheck product can effectively be used to monitor a person’s nicotine consumption as they reduce their dependence, as well as, to verify total cessation", notes Donald Mossman, President of Mossman Associates Inc.
